Overview/Abstract: It is important to use language services for non-English as a primary language and ASL patients because it can help alleviate the patient's anxiety and fear, thus making them more comfortable; it will improve the patient's comprehension of the procedure(s) they are having and give them an opportunity to ask clarifying questions; it will help the nurse address any knowledge gaps; it is the patient's right, and it is a CMS requirement. Providing language services protects the patient and the provider.
