Perioperative Nurse Educator
Houston Methodist Hospital
I am an experienced Operating Room (OR) nurse with over 15 years of active involvement in the Greater Houston Chapter of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Prairie View A&M University in 2008 and my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on Nurse Leadership and Management from Western Governors University in 2020.
Throughout my tenure with AORN, I have undertaken several leadership roles that have enriched my professional journey. From 2021 to 2022, I served on the Nominating Committee, culminating in the position of chairperson in 2022. Since 2023, I have been leading the Scholarship Committee as chairperson.
In my current position at Houston Methodist Hospital, I serve as a resource nurse for plastic surgery and as a nurse educator specializing in otolaryngology (ORL), plastic, and ophthalmology surgeries. This dual role allows me to mentor colleagues and contribute to the advancement of surgical nursing practices. I also hold the position of chair for the Perioperative Pressure Injury Committee within my facility. As a committee we have worked to greatly reduce the occurances of pressure injuries throughout the perioperative setting as well as maintain that success.
