Ms.Talangbayan earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Mundelein College (incorporated into Loyola University, Chicago), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri and a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of Chicago. Ms. Talangbayan has her CNOR with a Pediatric designation. Over the course of her career, Ms. Talangbayan has been a clinical nurse manager and nurse educator. In addition to being an initial member of the pediatric living related liver transplant team, she has worked in the team leader role for multiple specialities including adolescent gynecology, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric otorhinolaryngology, and pediatric urology. She is a former recipient of the Perioperative Clinical Excellence Award at New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. Her special interests are otology, cochlear implantation, and difficult airway management. Ms. Talangbayan is a former member of the Education Committee of Shared Governance and is currently a member of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee and participates in its' hospital wide initiatives. Ms. Talangbayan enjoys precepting, teaching, and mentoring new graduates as well as experienced nurses who have chosen to transition to the perioperative nursing specialty. Valerie is proud to have been a past NYC Chapter (#3304) AORN President, Secretary, and Board Member. She remains active in the Chapter as a member of the Scholarship Committee.
