Dr. Richard Dorritie is a Clinical Associate Professor at New York University, Rory Meyers College of Nursing. His teaching and learning are grounded in communication, connection, and trust. This critical pedagogy approach aligns with his research, professional, and scholarly activities that are focused on developing and advancing nurses as policy leaders, from bedside to congress, shaping our social justice and determents of health. Prof. Dorritie also spends time exploring interests at the intersection of quality of surgical care, and safety of surgical providers, where he combines his extensive clinical experience with a commitment to nursing education.
Dr. Dorritie has been an active member of AORN. He serves AORN of New York City, currently as chapter president, and also the New York State Council, and at the national level as a member and chair elect of the research committee.
He has received several accolades, but is most proud of the Deans distinguished teaching award (2025), selected by students and fellow faculty. He has never slayed a dragon, and likely cant jump over tall buildings, but is always willing to try.
