Registered Nurse Surgery
St. Elizabeth Healthcare
Hebron, Kentucky, United States
In the spring of 2012, I started my surgical nursing career at St. Elizabeth Healthcare with my Associates Degree in Nursing. I learned how to circulate and scrub in almost every specialty, excluding Open Heart. I fell in love with ENT and Plastics and specialized in those cases for the next 6 years. Surgery became my home-away-from-home. During this timeframe, I became a preceptor to new surgical staff, joined our unit’s Performance Improvement committee, attained my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, and achieved my CNOR certification.
At the end of 2018, I did 2 years of surgical travel nursing. The farthest west I went was to St. Louis, Missouri and worked at Barnes Jewish Hospital. I realized in this time, that there was no better place than home and came back to St. Elizabeth’s Intraoperative Department in December of 2020 on their Perioperative Allocated Resource Team (PART). Currently, I float to all five of their surgical locations in the tri-state area based on staffing needs and surgery case load.
In addition to providing frontline surgical care, I am the PART liaison on the Performance Improvement committee, a mentor/preceptor to new staff, and Chair of our Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Task Force. Now, after 13 years of surgical experience, I still can’t get enough and aspire to go back to school for my Masters in Nursing Education in 2026. I hope to one day be an educator for St. Elizabeth’s Intraoperative Department and lead others to fall in love with this impactful profession.
