Graduated in Nursing from the D. Ana Guedes Nursing School, Cristina Augusto has been a Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing since 2009, having completed her specialization at the Porto School of Nursing. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Development from the School of Industrial and Management Studies of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and a PhD in Nursing Sciences from ICBAS, University of Porto.
Her professional career has been characterized by a strong focus on perioperative nursing, combining clinical practice with academic teaching. Cristina began her nursing career in 2003 at the Matosinhos Local Health Unit, where she worked in the General Surgery ward. Over the years, she developed extensive experience in perioperative care, working in the Surgical Patient Admission Unit and the Late Recovery Unit.
In 2020, she was invited to take on management responsibilities in the Surgical Department of the Matosinhos Local Health Unit, further consolidating her expertise in perioperative nursing. In 2021, she transitioned to the Women’s and Children’s Health Department, where she continued to perform management duties while maintaining her focus on perioperative care.
In parallel with her clinical career, Cristina has been actively involved in teaching since 2009, when she became a guest lecturer at the Porto School of Nursing. On September 20, 2021, she joined CESPU as an Adjunct Professor, contributing to the Master’s program in Perioperative Nursing.
On November 9, 2024, Cristina assumed the position of Adjunct Professor at the Porto School of Nursing, where she is currently dedicated to teaching and research in the field of Perioperative Nursing.
