Jessica Alicdan, MPH, CIC, is a board-certified Infection Preventionist (IP) at UC San Diego Health, bringing over 19 years of experience in healthcare, including a decade dedicated to public health and infection prevention. She holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and dual undergraduate degrees in Molecular Cell Biology and Biotechnology.
Jessica currently serves as President of the California Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) Coordinating Council. She also serves as President-Elect for San Diego and Imperial County APIC chapter. She is a recognized leader in the field, with a strong focus on preventing hospital-onset bacteremia associated with vascular access devices, improving the quality and safety of endoscope reprocessing and management, and advancing practices in high-level disinfection, and sterilization. Her work bridges frontline clinical care and systems-level quality improvement, driven by a passion for evidence-based strategies that enhance patient safety and reduce healthcare-associated infections.
Jessica is an international consultant and has presented at the APIC 2024 Annual Conference on Involving Infection Preventionists When Designing Endoscope Processing Rooms Using ANSI/AAMI ST91:2021, sharing insights to improve developing working conditions in reprocessing rooms and enhancing patient and staff safety. In addition, Jessica was the co-author on APIC’s Issue Brief: The Science Behind Endoscope Reprocessing, recently published in February 2025.
Jessica is an active member of working groups within the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), Simethicone Coalition, GI Advisory Council, engages in professional development through APIC and serves as a mentor to emerging IP leaders in the field through mentorship programs she has developed for her local APIC chapter and state council.
