Zach Swartz is a Perioperative Practice Specialist at AORN. Zach was the lead author for the most recent update to the Guideline for Pneumatic Tourniquet Safety and co-authored the new Guideline for Artificial Intelligence Operationalization with Dr. Lisa Spruce. Zach provides clinical consultation to AORN members via the AORN Nurse Consult Line, contributes to the Clinical Issues and Back to Basics 2.0 columns in the AORN Journal. In addition, Zach serves as a Staff Liaison to the Clinical Nursing Practice Committee.
Dr. Lisa Spruce is the Senior Director of Evidence Based Perioperative Practice for AORN. She is responsible for the overall leadership, development, evaluation and maintenance of the products, services, and guidelines for perioperative practice developed by AORNs Nursing Practice Team and AORNs Research and Information Center. Dr. Spruce has authored five AORN national guidelines and was the creator and author of the AORN Journal’s Back to Basics Series. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the National Academy of Practice.
