Ruth Plotkin Shumaker, MS, BSN, RN, CNOR, has a distinguished career marked by
substantial domestic and international consulting experience. Shumaker’s record
of effecting transformational growth spans various aspects of leadership,
including project, change, and operational management. She has a long-standing
history of providing comprehensive health industry expertise to hospitals, health
systems, ambulatory surgery centers, and corporations. Educating and advising
these organizations, she’s contributed to the stabilization of staff, quality
enhancements, boosted operational efficiency, morale, and revenue growth. She’s
sought after for her expertise, insight, and as a professional speaker. Shumaker

National Vice President, AORN Foundation, Vice President, Vice-President of the
National Federation of Specialty Nursing Organizations, which represented more
than 330,000 specialty nurses, and was pivotal in developing the International
Federation of Perioperative Nursing. She’s held multiple senior-level executive
positions, ASC Administrator & CNO, Executive Director of the sole Level 1 trauma
and burn center serving a four-state region, and with Johnson & Johnson as an
