Donna graduated from the University of Iowa College of Nursing with a BSN in 1987 and an MSN in 2008. She currently serves as the Nurse Manager for the pre- and post-operative areas at the Ambulatory Surgery Center of the University of Iowa Healthcare with over 30 years of experience working with perioperative patients, her past clinical roles include cardiac step-down and heart failure clinical research coordinator.
Donna holds certifications in Peri-anesthesia Nursing (CPAN) and Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nursing (CAPA). She is an active member of both the Iowa Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ISPAN) and the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN).
Her involvement in evidence-based practice projects spans various areas, including pain management, hypothermia, nausea and vomiting, reducing operating room delays and cancellations, aromatherapy, and sleep apnea screening to identify patients at risk for adverse respiratory events post-anesthesia.
