Timothy Jones, BSN, RN, is the Clinical Informatics Manager for Surgical and Interventional Services at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), supporting 11 hospitals and 4 ambulatory surgery centers.
Timothy began his Informatics career in 2013 as one of the original members of the newly established Clinical Informatics Department at UMMS. He first served as an Informaticist focused on product development and the implementation of an enterprise electronic health record (EHR) across UMMS hospitals. He later transitioned into a Principal Trainer role for providers and hospital outpatient departments, where he developed training environments and curricula, credentialed trainers, and facilitated EHR implementations as new facilities joined UMMS. Timothy assumed the Informatics Manager role for Surgical and Interventional Services in 2020.
His clinical background includes Trauma Critical Care nursing at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center, as well as experience in emergency department and ambulatory nursing.
Timothy is certified in the Epic Orders application and Hospital Outpatient Departments (HOD).
