Stephanie M. Reed, MSN, RN, CNOR, FNE A/P: No financial relationships to disclose
Overview/Abstract: 87% of human trafficking victims interact with the healthcare system frequently and are not recognized as such. Health care workers are in the best position to provide healthcare and safety for these patients. More importantly, if the presenting patient is a minor, the duty to report exists. Staff lack comfort with this topic, and many health care providers do not recognize the signs nor how to interact on the patient's behalf. This presentation will provide providers how to recognize signs of human trafficking, ways to assist and resources to not only help patients but providers as well.
