An RN for the past 18 years, Kristy has a passion for educating healthcare team members. She received a Master's degree in nursing education in 2013 and began teaching undergraduate nursing and inter-professional education at a private university in St. Paul, Minnesota. In addition to academia, Kristy has worked as a cardiac nurse for a Level 1 Trauma Hospital, transitioned to a perioperative staff nurse in the operating room and began a role as an Operating Room Nurse Educator teaching AORN's Peri-operative 101 among other responsibilities. She is an active member of her local AORN chapter and a member of the Nursing Advisory Board and the Surgical Technology Advisory Board at a local community college.
Most recently, Kristy transitioned to a critical access hospital in Northern Minnesota where she is again coordinating education for the surgical team. Kristy has a desire to develop the surgical team's knowledge and skills while protecting them from unnecessary risks. She does this using creative avenues such as simulation, gamification and game-based learning.
