Dr. Renae Wright is a Senior Perioperative Practice Specialist with the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), bringing more than 20 years of perioperative experience in inpatient and outpatient settings as a staff nurse, educator, relief supervisor, and perioperative services coordinator across multiple surgical specialties. She has contributed extensively to AORN’s evidence-based Guidelines on the topics of minimally invasive surgery, environment of care, patient temperature management, and surgical energy devices, and is currently leading the update of the Guideline for the Prevention of Unintentionally Retained Surgical Items. A contributing author to the AORN Journal’s Clinical Issues and Back to Basics columns, Dr. Wright also provides expert guidance through the Nurse Consult Line and has presented both nationally and internationally. Her professional interests include nursing leadership, quality improvement, patient safety, and advancing evidence-based perioperative practice.
