Laila Bailey is a Service Leader for Pediatric and Urology at a Level 1 trauma center and large teaching facility in Northern Virginia. She has over 35 years of perioperative experience, and still work in the perioperative setting, supporting staff and surgeons in the care of patients. She earned her BSN and MSN Advanced Clinical Nursing from George Mason University, and DNP from Vanderbilt University. She currently also works as Adjunct Professor of Nursing at Shenandoah University.
Laila has published two articles in AORN. Her most recent was published in January 2025 discussing the myth of the iodine allergy and perioperative implications. She has spoke several times at AORN EXPO, including on iodine and allergy in 2024. She has also spoken to several AORN chapters on this topic.
She is a past member of the AORN CLinical Nurse Practice Committee for four years, including two years as chair. She is currently secretary of her local AORN chapter.
