Katharine W. Geiger, MSN, RN, CNOR, is a nationally recognized leader in perioperative nursing with more than 35 years of experience advancing surgical care and sterile processing operations. She currently serves as Clinical Director of Optimization and Integration at the Penn Medicine Interventional Support Center (ISC)—the largest offsite instrument processing center in the United States—where she leads strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and capacity across the health system.
Throughout her career, Katharine has held key perioperative nursing leadership roles in quaternary care centers including as Clinical Director of Perioperative Nursing at Penn Medicine. She also created and manages the Penn Medicine Operating Room RN Float Pool, the first of its kind in the Philadelphia region.
Katharine is deeply committed to workforce development and spearheaded the Earn-to-Learn Sterile Processing Technician training program to expand the pipeline for this critical role. Her expertise has been showcased through national presentations, published articles, and interviews in leading industry journals. She is an active member of AORN, and serves on executive roundtables and advisory boards shaping the future of perioperative care.
