Paula A. G. Teixeira is a perioperative nurse with over 20 years of professional experience, including more than 16 years in the operating room, working as both a circulating and scrub nurse in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, and Obstetrics. She currently works in the operating room at Hospital Pedro Hispano – Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos, in Porto, Portugal. Her key areas of interest include evidence-based practice, infection prevention and control research, injuries related to surgical positioning, risk management, and the prevention of retained surgical items. She is particularly focused on electronic health record systems, data quality improvement, and innovation in healthcare technologies. Paula is currently a PhD candidate in Nursing, with her study area focused on infection prevention and control. She has been a member of AORN since 2023, valuing the strong professional networking opportunities and access to perioperative guidelines that support safe and high-quality practice.
