Kat Woodford has been a nurse for the past 11 years. For the first 5 years, she worked at the bedside as an Emergency Department nurse in one of the busiest EDs in Baltimore City. Once she earned her master’s degree in nursing education, Kat moved onto nursing education for University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health.
Her work experience has packed a great deal of experience into a short period of time. Kat has served as a preceptor, mentor, Charge Nurse, and nurse manager of the Emergency Department. As an educator, she has served both the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health environments. Kat is active in Nursing Shared Governance and is the co-chair of the Professional Development Council. She is an Epic credentialed trainer, an AHA instructor, and volunteers for the community by teaching Hands Only CPR to vulnerable groups.
Kat currently works as the Director of Education for the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health. In her time both as a unit educator and now as the Director, Kat has collaborated with Tina Moore to develop a Professional Development and Leadership Academy for nursing and non-nursing team members. This program has successfully created a pipeline for Leadership to identify and promote team members into new leadership roles.
She holds an associate’s degree in nursing from Harford Community College. She obtained her MSN in Education from Capella University.
She is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association.
