Lead Perioperative Educator
Cleveland Clinic
Shanon Schady is the lead perioperative educator at the Cleveland Clinic where she has worked for over 20 years. Shanon has an adoration for knowledge, and her journey to lifelong learning started with her obtaining two associate degrees from a community college in Surgical Technology and Nursing. She continued her education by then receiving a Bachelor of Science in nursing, which propelled her to seek her master’s degree in nursing education. Shanon is a published author; and considers writing to be an empowering experience and she enjoys the freedom it provides.
As a dedicated Lead Perioperative Educator, Shanon specializes in guiding and shaping the next generation of perioperative nurses through a comprehensive Nurse Residency Program. With a passion for education and clinical excellence, she oversees the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of structured learning experiences that bridge the gap between academic preparation and competent clinical practice.
Shanon's role centers on fostering a supportive and evidence-based environment where new graduate nurses can grow in confidence, competence, and critical thinking. She collaborates closely with surgical services leadership, preceptors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure residents receive consistent mentorship, performance feedback, and progressive clinical exposure tailored to perioperative settings.
