Lisa K. Morris, DNP, APRN, FNP-C is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner program at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. Prior to joining the School of Nursing, her nursing experiences include work in acute and intensive care, ambulatory care, school health, public health, healthcare simulation, and healthcare quality & safety. Her teaching and research interests include leadership, quality improvement, primary care, and health promotion & disease prevention.
With a deep commitment to improving health and fostering interprofessional collaboration, Dr. Morris emphasizes the importance of prevention and wellness in her teaching and practice. Her dedication to enhancing quality and safety in academic and healthcare settings is evident through her innovative approaches and continuous contributions to the field and nursing practice. Her greatest satisfaction and achievement, though, comes from mentoring and supporting the future nurse leaders at the School of Nursing.
In addition to her teaching and practice, Dr. Morris serves as part of the leadership team for the University’s Medical Reserve Corps (UTMRC), where she helps to increase awareness and deliver education on public health issues affecting local communities and populations. Dr. Morris is also actively involved in the Epsilon Theta chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, where she currently serves as the Chapter president. Her work with the UTMRC and Sigma allows her to continue to advance public health initiatives in the communities in which she serves.
