Electrophysiology Nurse
Shauna Hansen is a seasoned electrophysiology nurse with nearly two decades of diverse cardiac nursing experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Hampshire in 2006 and began her career at South Georgia Medical Center in August of 2006. In 2007, she transitioned into cardiac nursing at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, where she deepened her foundation in cardiovascular care.
In 2008, Shauna expanded her expertise as a travel RN, serving patients at Guam Memorial Hospital and later at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where she accepted a permanent staff position in 2009. At MedStar, she gained extensive experience in the cardiac step-down unit and spent six years in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
In 2017, Shauna specialized in electrophysiology, where she continues to provide comprehensive patient care, including pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure monitoring and support, and post procedure recovery. She also serves as a clinical resource nurse and preceptor. She has completed Medstar’s Clinical Advancement Program for four consecutive years and plays an active role in staff development and quality improvement initiatives. Her comprehensive experience in cardiac care, combined with her commitment to excellence and education, makes her a trusted leader in the electrophysiology lab and a passionate advocate for high-quality, patient-centered care.
