Biography of Patricia Pereira, RCES, CVT
Patricia is a highly experienced Lead Electrophysiology Technologist with over a decade of expertise in cardiac electrophysiology and invasive cardiovascular technology. Since 2024, Patricia has served as Lead Electrophysiology Technologist at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, where she oversees and assists in complex electrophysiology procedures, coordinates staff schedules, and ensures the highest standards of patient care and safety.
In this role, Patricia has been instrumental in maintaining and calibrating specialized equipment, mentoring and training technologists, and acting as a trusted technical resource for the electrophysiology team. Her dedication to continuous professional development is demonstrated through active participation in annual skills assessments, ECG competencies, and ongoing education in advancing electrophysiology practices. Participating in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Also participating in activities supporting the advancement of clinical practices through literature, professional organizations, research and committees.
As a Senior Electrophysiology Technologist , Patricia demonstrated advanced proficiency in invasive hemodynamic monitoring, assisting and scrubbing for routine to complex cardiac procedures, and maintaining strict sterile technique. She is also responsible for catheter and equipment preparation, monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms including 12-lead ECGs and internal electrograms, operating X-ray imaging systems, and responding to emergencies with advanced cardiac life support skills.
From 2009 to 2014, Patricia worked as a Cardiovascular Technologist, gaining foundational and advanced experience assisting physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures, providing pre- and post-procedural care, maintaining procedural site integrity, and operating complex imaging equipment.
