Larry Asplin currently serves as a management consultant for Perioperative Services at CentraCare Health, Minnesota. His previous roles included Interim Manager/CNO at a Critical Access Hospital, and prior to that, worked as a Surgery Director for 16-years at a large level II Trauma Center. Although planning to retire following his Director role, he was asked to assist for 6-months at the critical access facility, and he jumped at the chance and continued to work in this capacity for 3.5 years and enjoyed every minute! Serving many roles within AORN, Larry is also Past-President of the AORN Foundation, and continues as a current Trustee. Other nursing roles for Larry have included Educator in Perioperative Services, Charge Nurse in Emergency Trauma and Orthopedics, Certified RN First Assist for Orthopedics, and as a Radiologic Technologist. He holds a master’s degree in nursing education and is a Fellow of AORN.
