Dr. Janet McLaren is an accomplished nurse with over 25 years of experience in healthcare, specializing in Nursing Education, PeriAnesthesia, Ambulatory Surgery, and Critical Care. With 11 years of experience in nursing education, she has helped shape the careers of many future nurses, teaching both in-person and online. Additionally, Dr. McLaren has a strong leadership background, with 7 years of progressive experience in corporate healthcare, as well as 8 years of instructional experience in academia.
Dr. McLaren’s academic journey culminated in earning a Doctor of Nursing Education (EdD) from Western Connecticut State University in 2020. Her dissertation focused on the Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) clinical learning model, which aims to enhance collaboration between academic institutions and healthcare facilities to provide superior clinical training for nursing students. This innovative approach reflects her passion for improving the quality of nursing education.
Throughout her career, Dr. McLaren has published numerous articles, including serving as the lead author of a paper in the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing (JOPAN) titled “Decreasing the Length of Stay in Phase I Postanesthesia Care Unit: An Evidence-Based Approach.” Her commitment to advancing the field of nursing is reflected in both her scholarly work and her extensive hands-on experience.
