Mayte Diaz is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Assistant Professor with the University of South Florida Nurse Anesthesiology Program. With over a decade of clinical experience, she has practiced in diverse perioperative settings, including a CRNA-only practice, and previously served as a clinical coordinator and specialist in neurosurgical and ENT anesthesia at Tampa General Hospital.
Dr. Diaz brings her passion for mentorship, professional advocacy, and wellness into her academic role, where she leads simulation and didactic instruction in areas such as health assessment, foundational principles, trauma, and neuroanesthesia. She serves as faculty advisor for the Student Success and Wellness Committee, supporting future CRNAs in both their personal and professional growth.
An active voice for the profession, Dr. Diaz currently serves as President-Elect for the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (FANA) and Chair of its Member Services Committee. Nationally, she contributes to the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) as Vice-Chair of the Communications Committee. She has had the honor of earning 1st place for presenting at the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Conference among other accomplishments, and is proud to represent CRNAs as essential members of the perioperative care team.
