Dr. Danielle Quintana began her nursing career in 2005 after earning her ADN from the Trinitas School of Nursing. She completed her BSN in 2009 and her MSN in Nursing Education with a Nurse Educator Certificate in 2014 at the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing at Thomas Edison State University. In 2023, she completed her PhD in Nursing Science at Texas Woman’s University. Her dissertation centered on surgical conscience and resulted in the development of the Barriers to Surgical Conscience Action (BSCA) scale, a validated instrument designed to identify obstacles that prevent perioperative clinicians from acting on their surgical conscience. The BSCA is featured on AORN’s The Stitch, published in the Journal of Nursing Measurement, and is undergoing translation and psychometric evaluation in Chinese and Turkish.
Dr. Quintana’s clinical specialty and passion lie in perioperative nursing. She has over 20 years of operating room experience—preceded by five years as a surgical technologist—and holds the certification Certified Nurse Operating Room–Emeritus (CNOR-E). Throughout her career, she has served in renowned institutions including Montefiore Medical Center, The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, St. David’s Medical Center, and currently Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.
In 2014, Dr. Quintana joined the University of Houston College of Nursing as a Clinical Assistant Professor and became Interim Second-Degree Track Manager in 2018. She is a three-time recipient of the Good Samaritan Foundation Excellence in Nursing Bronze Award (2016, 2019, 2021) and earned both the ATI Nurse’s Touch Award and UH Faculty Excellence Award for Group Teaching in 2020.
In 2024, Dr. Quintana joined Texas Woman’s University as an Assistant Professor. She currently serves as Shared Governance Chair-Elect (Houston), Chair of the Policy and Procedures Committee, a member of the Curriculum Development and Implementation Committee, and lead faculty for the Perioperative Nursing electiv
