Kizzie Charles, DNP, APRN, AGCNS-BC, CNOR, is a Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Kizzie received a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Quinnipiac University and has a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Master of Science from Hunter College-City University of New York, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York, Geneseo College. Kizzie is a member of AORN, AONL, NACNS, and ONS. She is CNOR-certified and a board-certified Adult-Gerontologic Clinical Nurse Specialist. Kizzie has been a nurse for over 20 years and worked as a staff nurse in the operating room for 11 1/2 years. During that time, she held different titles, including Hepatopancreatobiliary Service Leader, Colorectal Service Leader, Magnet Champion, and OR Unit-based Council member. Kizzie’s current role is the Clinical Nurse Specialist for the operating rooms at MSKCC's main campus operating rooms. She is an active member of several interdepartmental councils and interdisciplinary committees. Through her work at MSKCC, Kizzie strives to improve the nursing profession and the quality of patient care through professional development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
