Caila is from Dallas Texas and attended The University of Texas at Arlington, where she recieved her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has been an operating room nurse for almost four years at Parkland Hospital. She specializes in orthopedic surgery, including total joint procedures and orthopedic trauma. She also has experience across multiple surgical services due to her time working the mid-shift. During this time, Caila has served as the OR lead nurse during numerous trauma surgeries and several code blues in the operating room. Through these experiences, she has seen how valuable targeted nurse training can be, especially for newer and less experienced staff. Last year, Caila had the opportunity to serve as the chair of the Operating Room unit-based council, where she helped implement several quality improvement projects, including collaborating with coordinators and the unit educator to develop a multi-style approach to trauma and code blue training.
