Surgical Technologist

TSgt Rankin is an active duty Surgical Technologist serving in the United States Air Force. He comes from a military family, having parents who both also served in the Air Force. Following in their footsteps, he enlisted in the fall of 2014 out of Boise, Idaho. He completed his technical training as a scrub tech in May of 2015 and was sent to Misawa, Japan for his first duty station.
While there, He made BTZ, was chosen as the Air Force Surgical Services Airman of the Year in 2016 and ultimately promoted to SSgt just before PCSing to Eglin AFB, Florida in 2018.
While at Eglin, TSgt Rankin was selected to join the base Honor Guard team, where he served as the NCOIC of his team. He was also selected to stay on with the team as Head Trainer, allowing him to guide the next group of Guardsmen. After completing his time with the Honor Guard, he deployed to Somalia as a member of one of the Air Force's Ground Surgical Teams, which are small surgical groups that are trained to forward deploy and perform emergency surgeries in austere environments. Eventually, he returned to the hospital and was made NCOIC of Surgical Logistics up until his departure from Eglin in 2023.
TSgt Rankin's next duty station was Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, where he now serves as the Operating Room NCOIC.
