Perioperative RN Clinical Education Specialist

Tracey Kunkel is a dedicated Perioperative RN Clinical Education Specialist at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Anthropology before enlisting in the military. While serving on active duty in the U.S. Navy, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Duquesne University. In 2024, Ms. Kunkel completed her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on education at Waynesburg University.
During her time in the Navy, Ms. Kunkel served as the PM charge nurse in the operating room at Balboa Naval Medical Center and as the Department Head of Surgical and Ancillary Services aboard the USNS Comfort hospital ship. Her extensive nursing experience includes working in various areas such as the nursery/neonatal ICU, mother-baby/postpartum care, labor and delivery, medical-surgical units, same-day surgery, and the operating room.
In 2009, she retired from the Navy after serving for over 21 years on active duty, she returned home to Pittsburgh. There, she took on roles in the operating room as a staff nurse, clinical coordinator, team leader, manager, and nurse educator. Additionally, she has worked as a charge nurse in multiple hospitals and healthcare settings.
