Antonia Oliva López, Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree in Socio-Health Research and perioperative nursing innovation lead at the Castilla-La Mancha Health Service (SESCAM), is the creator of the Virtual Nurse project and a certificate holder in Artificial Intelligence in Health Care from Harvard Medical School. She works as a perioperative nurse in a technologically advanced public hospital in Spain, where she focuses on surgical safety, team performance, and advanced training for instrument and circulating nurses. Antonia currently leads several AI-driven innovation initiatives within SESCAM, including Virtual Nurse, a VR- and AI-enabled training platform for perioperative nurses; Safe Resection, which supports oncologic surgery planning; The Best Resources, which optimizes the use of medical devices; and Multispeaker, which improves multilingual communication with patients. Her work combines frontline clinical practice, clinical education, and digital transformation, with a special interest in how immersive simulation, data-driven research, and AI can enhance patient safety and support perioperative nursing worldwide.
