Clinical Nursing Director for Perioperative services

My name is Mary Jane Talento, MSN, RN, CNOR, and I currently serve as the Clinical Nursing Director for Perioperative Services at Kaiser Permanente Sacramento. I lead a comprehensive surgical services program that includes 12 main OR suites, PACU, sterile processing, and two ambulatory surgery centers.
With over 20 years of nurse leadership experience and 15+ years as an operating room nurse, I bring a broad scope of knowledge across clinical operations, staff development, and system-level improvement. My work focuses on advancing patient safety, optimizing surgical throughput, and creating a strong, engaged perioperative culture grounded in teamwork and accountability.
I am a past recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Leader Award, an honor that reflects my continued dedication to compassionate, high-quality care and the people who deliver it.
Outside of my professional life, I’m a proud mom of three and have been married to my husband since 1999. I’m honored to submit this abstract as part of my commitment to sharing lessons learned and contributing to the growth of our profession through the AORN community.
