Manager of Nursing Quality and Clinical Practice

Christine Westphal, MSN, RN, CNL, CV-BC, is the current manager of nursing quality and clinical practice at a Magnet-designated, tertiary, level 1 trauma center, Advocate Christ Medical Center (ACMC), where she leads strategic quality initiatives that promote patient safety, clinical excellence, and nurse sensitive outcomes. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus of Clinical Nurse Leader and is board-certified as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) and Cardiac Vascular Nurse (CV-BC).
Christine has presented extensively at national and system-level nursing conferences. In 2022, she presented two posters - one at the American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) conference on improving nurse knowledge through high-fidelity simulation for local anesthesia systemic toxicity (LAST), and another at the Advocate Nursing Research conference focused on improving process outcomes using unit-based champions.
In 2024, she co-led a multi-site poster presentation at the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Surgical Expo and Conference, highlighting strategies to streamline silos across state lines. She served as a principal investigator for a nursing research study on improving surgical outcomes through the use of thermoreflective blankets that received Advocate Health's prestigious Gold Touchstone Award and was featured as a podium presentation during the 2024 Advocate Sharing Day. In 2025, a nursing research project to improve normothermia earned 3rd place in the research poster category at the AORN Surgical Expo and Conference with the abstract being published in the June edition of the AORN Journal. Also, a project improving emergency response in the operating room won a gold touchstone award at Advocate Sharing Day 2025 with a couple quality improvement projects for improvement with orientation amd kidney transplant won the bronze touchstone award.
Christine is passionate about leveraging clinical leadership, data-driven improvement, and frontline innovation to drive sustainable outcomes in perioperative and system-wide nursing care.
