Brittanie Yuen, MSN, RN, CNOR, is a licensed registered nurse in UT Health Austin’s Ambulatory Surgery Center. With more than 15 years of clinical and management experience in the operating room, she specializes in providing care to a vast, diverse patient population during their perioperative experience across a wide range of complex surgeries. Brittanie Yuen earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and her master’s in nursing with a focus in nursing administration and leadership from Western Governors University – Texas. She completed a residency in operating as well as extensive training through the Administrative Leadership Program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Brittanie Yuen’s clinical interests include optimizing nursing care in the operating room to improve patients’ surgical outcomes. She believes in taking a collaborative approach, involving physicians and the surgical team, to provide high-level care to patients in the operating room. Her research interests include quality and process improvements. One of her notable quality improvement projects include the reduction of intraoperative pressure ulcers through her creation of risk assessment tools specific to the operating room. She also has an extensive clinical background in transplant surgeries and was actively involved in a process improvement project that revamped organ verification documentation and processes, which more accurately captured the transplant organ verification process to better meet the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) standards. She is an active member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses.
