Achieving safe surgical delivery relies on clear communication, shared accountability, and teams supported by reliable systems. However, perioperative teams are practicing in increasingly high-pressure environments characterized by staffing shortages, burnout, inconsistent education and training pathways, and breakdowns in interdisciplinary communication. These challenges are often compounded in rural and underserved settings where access to specialists and advanced technology is also limited. Together, these factors increase the risk of errors, disrupt workflow, and place significant strain on both clinicians and healthcare organizations.
