Overview/Abstract: There are ongoing issues and concerns with the state of instrument reprocessing. The operating room relies on sterile processing department for surgical equipment that are clean and sterile, ready and on time, complete and accurate. Yet, many OR managers and directors are faced with preventable tray defects that often are affecting the outcome of surgery. This session will provide guidance on monitoring a safe device reprocessing program in their sterile processing departments.
Attendees will gain better understanding of the risks associated with sterilization and disinfection and walk away with information to share with their reprocessing team and provide them with resources to improve current practices.
