John F. Kimsey, n/a: STERIS: Employment (full or part time) (Ongoing)
Overview/Abstract: Sterile Processing Departments, “SPDs”, strive to deliver 100% clean, complete, sterile, and on-time instrumentation to the OR but it doesn’t always work out as planned. Incomplete trays, missing instruments, bioburden, holes in wrap, extra instruments, late trays, and non-functional instruments cause frustrations for the OR and SPD. While some SPDs are well run, others struggle with the same issues repeatedly. Why is SPD so hard?
Join this presentation to explore the root causes of common SPD performance issues and what you can do to fix them. Exploring the root causes of Culture, Leadership, Capacity, Process, and People, you’ll return home armed with the knowledge and information to partner with your SPD in a proactive and positive manner. Examples include specifics to address missing instruments at every point in the process from Point of Use to decontamination to the assembly table. Understand how culture and leadership can negatively and positively impact quality and compliance. Explore how capacity restraint root cause impacts SPD staff performance.
If you’re ready to take action and make a difference for your sterile processing department by addressing root cause issues, this educational session is for you!
